Aula Cesga at the International Society of Paediatric Oncology Conference

Researchers from the USC Educational Technology Research Group (https://www.tecnoeduc.es/) presented an innovative teacher training program at this week’s SIOP (International Society of Paediatric Oncology) International Congress. Developed in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Families of Childhood Cancer (https://cancerinfantil.org/), the program focuses on supporting the educational needs of teachers who work with students with cancer.

This initiative utilizes CESGA’s Aula Cesga (https://aula.cesga.es), an e-learning platform designed for educational innovation. Specifically, this course in Aula Cesga provides online training for teachers who have students with cancer, facilitating their successful reintegration into the school environment. Since 2022, the program has trained over 200 teachers across Spain through five successful editions.

This collaboration between USC, CESGA, and the Spanish Federation of Families of Childhood Cancer stemmed from the European “Create Your Future” project (https://createyourfuture-eu.org/). Since 2002, Aula Cesga has been a CESGA initiative supporting research and teaching communities in their online and blended learning practices. Utilizing open-source tools and drawing on experiences in educational innovation, Aula Cesga provides valuable resources such as a comprehensive and flexible e-portfolio tool (https://e-learning.cesga.es/es/2023/04/26/e-portafolio-en-chamilo-gracias-al-proyecto-ekt/) included in its latest version.
