CESGA works in this area to develop computational solutions for the health sector that require high performance computation. These capacities are obtained from local computational resources as well as from distributed computing such as GRID or Cloud, with the aim to guarantee the time-to-solution. Moreover, the philosophy of applied solutions tries to hide the complexity of the computation systems utilised so that the researcher or the final user only has to be concerned with the problem to be solved.

With this focus, CESGA has developed a portal for radiotherapy, e-IMRT, that includes remote validation services for radiotherapy treatments and optimisation based on Monte Carlo algorithms, developed jointly with the Research Group in Radiophysics of the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Information Technologies Group of the University of Vigo, the University Hospital Complex of Santiago (CHUS) and the University Hospital Complex of Vigo. A system of support for clinical diagnosis (CAD) is also being developed with Bahia Software and the University of Santiago de Compostela.

In addition to this application of solutions, and in collaboration with the Department of Applied Mathematics of the University of Santiago de Compostela, CESGA is developing a software for the resolution of transport equations for photons and electrons for its use in radiotherapy.
